Hi sporty, I too have a pair of brand new chrome roulette wheels, tyre's, discs etc, and I was wondering whether to fit them or sell them. I have amber whiskey/vivid black and was'nt sure if they'd look ok? Yes I know I could put them on and see, but I'll wait till you post a pic with the front one on, that's assuming you ARE fitting a matching roulette wheel on the front

The Roulette wheels were a fall back position for my wife & I. From the beginning we wanted the laced rim. Anything else for us would be second best. I am traditional in some of my ways, & I want what I want. They told me it was not possible to have them because they were a 16" front rim. The ultra's are a 17" rim. Then I saw the laced rim on a new Road King. I called them and asked why I couldn't have the laced rim if it's on a RK. They said because it's a RK. I said it's the same front end, same forks, same position for the caliper, etc.. I then called Dunlop directly and talked with one of the big guy's for this area. He told me that the only difference between the two tires is the inside diameter, 16" instead of 17". Harley Davidson took the difference from the sidewall. If I was wanting a wide white wall tire the back tire would still be a multi tread tire, but the front would not. This is how the current configuration of the RK is now. As soon as I found this out, those Roulette rims were gone. The Roulette's really look, Just not for me. They just made the change. I have to say that the rotors look like crap. The will be replaced. Here's the pix. If anybody has a good suggestions, PLEASE feel free. It always helps to include a part# an a link.
Thanks

OH DEAR!!! The only reason I got a deal on the wheels is because a guy bought em for his roadking and then found out they were a different size to his wheels and the dealer took em back???
OH DEAR!!! I have those rotors fitted, ;-)

Default It's True

It's true. all 09-14 Touring Bikes can take a 16" or 17" rims. 09-14 the width is the same also. from 08-09 I think it's different. The dealers just can't think outside of the book. Today I was looking at a SE Limited, & I observed that the Slipstream heated grips on the bike as well as all other wires were run internally. I had just bought those same grips to put on my Klock Werks handlebars, & they were trying to tell me it can't be done. As far as the rotors are concerned, I just don't think they look good on the laced rim. We all have different taste. If we didn't, we would all have the same thing's.

Should have found some aluminum profile laced wheels...

And the rotors block a lot of what you're trying to see there.

I personally prefer the 16" wheel/ tire sidewall - aspect ratio to the 17". I don't get this latest obsession with larger and larger front rim sizes. I think the FL style bikes look better with a 16" on the front. The latest Street Glide front wheel looks ridiculous to me.

You should be able to find a large choice of 3rd party rotors to fit those rims. They are the basic touring 09-13 style.

I entirely agree. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to these things.
In reguards to the rotors, trying to find somthing that compliments the laced & opens up to show the rims, insead of covering like SafetyMan said.

To SafetyMan: I had the profile rims on my 08. I would have loved to have them. When they changed the tires in 09, they didn't make the profile rims
to fit them. Even if the front would work, there is no matching rear rim that I'm aware of.

I don't have an ultra nor the guts to take apart a bike with less than 100miles on it to make massive changes. (and mostly cause my wallet doesn't allow me to...) im in for more pics and the finished result!

Default Build Update

I have no pix to post today. However I did receive the new Klock Werk egro standard handlebars & 8.5 dark smoked windshield. I was going to do this little project my self, but they offered me a deal a couldn't refuse. I also conducted a trade with redeye93 for his gauges. We traded. I should be getting them on Fri. If this is so, then I will be at the dealer to see if any further work was done. I was told that the painted parts would be arriving late this week.
