I was OTD at Danbury with a vivid black Street Glide Special for $21,699 and $21,999 for the color option, I believe Gengras was $22,000 and $22,500. They may have come down a bit more but they wouldn't touch the deal I got at Danbury. You're better off saving yourself a couple hundred bucks and buying from Danbury, but make sure they give you your 1000 service free, and 10% on PARTS and motor clothes, and don't take no for an answer. You can get service anywhere, but you might as well drive an extra 20 minutes for the better deal, then put that cash toward some accessories!

Took the bike home from the dealer today, all I can say is wow. I thought the Arnott air ride suspension I installed on my old V-Rod was an upgrade, but it was nothing like this. I road from Danbury, CT to my house, almost an hour. If you've ever been on I-84 through Waterbury CT you know that it is probably the worst piece of highway in the state to be on a motorcycle. Some of the unavoidable bumps used to make me feel like every disk in my back was blown... on my FLHXS I barely felt them. It was amazing. And having a radio definitely kicks ***. I thought this big bagger was going to feel like...well... like a big bagger, but it's so nimble! Mind you I'm coming off a lowered V-Rod with a long rake and a 240mm rear tire, but still, amazing.

I've only ridden this thing about 50 miles, but I'm blown away. My girlfriend was breaking my ***** today about having an "old man bike", but when we got home she was bitching about how cold and sore she was (she did the same ride on her 07' Nightster, and I had to rub it in a little.

So, like I mentioned before, I can't leave anything alone. Yesterday, after getting the bike home around 4:30, I didn't last too long before I had to start tinkering.

I wanted to hide the big stock whip antenna so I looked on the forum for options, and came across the ones that stick inside the fairing, etc. Some of these seem to have an adverse affect on reception, and more so than just hiding the original (which is a FREE option). I found one member who sorta hid his, but I didn't really like it, so I set out to figure it out on my own, and I must say I'm pleased with the results so far.

First I pulled the left saddle bag, then the seat and side panel. It's nice working on something new for a change. No stuck bolts, nothing rusted or greasy.

Then I detached the unplugged the stock antenna removed the mounting bracket.

Then I just took the antenna wire out of the clips that hold it on the fender, and re-routed so it starts down at the base of the side cover, and sort of wraps around the nut at the bottom. It only sticks out a hair further than this nut, so it doesn't interfere with the cover, and it's just low enough so that only about a half inch hangs out beneath the cover. Then I reconnected the antenna to the wire and routed it up between the saddle bag mounting bracket, suspesion, and the fender and zip tied it into place. The tip of the antenna ends just before the fender gap cover in back. Then I just reassembled the whole thing. Having done it once, I could easily repeat it in 5 minutes flat. Now I just need to stop at HD and get another plug for the hole in the rear fender.

I also removed the rear license plate bracket relectors, and the front fork reflectors (with a heat gun). It left minimal gunk on the front fender which you can see in the picture, I since wiped it down with a simple cleaner and you can't tell anything was ever there. Perfect.

And of course I had to add a little CVMA logo.

Raising my daughter the way I was, IN THE GARAGE : )

The next day I followed up with a phone call to each dealership and got a POP at each. I again explained what I wanted and let them know I wasn't afraid to travel for for the best deal. Some dealerships immediately gave me their very high bottom line and said they don't deal over the phone etc. These dealers got cut. Then I went back and forth between the remaining dealerships bouncing the offers back and forth. A couple more dealers told told me they couldn't go any lower so they got cut. The next day, down to 3 dealers again going back and forth until it came down to 2 with nearly identical offers. Danbury beat the final $ offer of Gengras, and matched their 1000 Mile Service Free, and 10% of clothing and accessories for 1 year. The deal was so good that a buddy of mine pulled his $500 deposit on a regular 2014 Street Glide at Brother HD (who told him not to tell anyone about the deal he got because it was supposedly so good), and bought a Street Glide Special with me for only $300 more! The fact that it was a 2 bike deal certainly helped secure the low OTD $.
It was only $150.00 more OTD for the SGS than the Regular at Brothers. Brothers gave me an OTD price of $21,548.75 OTD on a vivid black SG regular.

And there is my buddy who bought bought the other bike ^. He got an an even an even better deal than I thought.

I just bought the black HD lower fork slider kit with upper covers. It's about $500 from the dealer, brand new on eBay for $240. I found a few that were a couple bucks cheaper, but those were all take-off & powder coated vs direct from HD. Ought to be an interesting experience to install...I've never had forks apart.

I think you need to put a few miles on the bike before you tear it apart... oh wait, were getting snow tomorrow, tear it down!

LOL @SummersOff, you know I can't leave anything alone, snow or no snow.

I just ordered a Danny Gray Short Hop XL seat on amazon for 269. IMO it looks a little nicer than the HD badlander, and it's comparably priced. Read a few reviews and others seemed to find it comfortable. I'll post a saddle review after my first long ride.

Looks like I'll be ordering a set of Paul Yaffee 12" Monkey Bars in black too, but I need to find out about possibly voiding the warranty first.

Update on the bars. HD told me about $1200 JUST IN LABOR to install the bars! And they have to be HD brand otherwise it'll void the warranty. F that. I guess I'll be waiting two years till the warranty is up before I go with a nice set of bars...if I can restrain myself that long.
