Transformation complete ....need some sissy bar help
Hi All, I finished my detachable project about a week ago. I was lucky enough to have a couple of nice days here in ohio to take it for a ride. Unfortunately, during the ride with mama on board she didn't like the feeling of no back rest. I searched the HD catalog and it states only the "NEW" air wing sissy bar , Part #54300146 for 259.00 will fit. Is this true? Has anyone tried another model#?
I appreciate the help
I haven't done this myself, but it is the way I want to go. Throw on the tour pak for the long runs and sissy bar for the 2-up. I found this one which is also available in gloss black or black denim I believe: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...sy-bar-upright (#52300146 mistyped I believe).
Out of curiosity, where'd your antennas go? J&M perhaps?

Any one that attaches to the docking hardware will work. There are many. You won't find any that say they fit an Ultra or a Limited. Look for 2014 Street Glide fitment.
BTW, what are you using for the license plate mount?
They offer a short and standard height. The short looks better but my wife likes the standard height one. I bought both of them off of craigslist. The standard had the oversized backrest pad and the short had the normal backrest pad. Ended up putting the normal sized backrest pad on the standard height backrest and she loves it.
Best to go to your dealership and test both of them out. Let mama decide on which one she likes. That way she feels involved and you can blame her if a month down the road she complains...
All the research I did the only thing that changed was the docking kit. Most sissy bars and luggage racks from previous years should fit the new docking kit.

I made the mount out of the piece that came with the detach kit from harley. I used it upside down and backwards and reformed it a little then I purchased a led frame from custom dynamics
