I did not have a connection issue but did have a starter issue. Only while in auto tune, the bike starter did not engage consistantly. Some times I would have to hit the starter button three or four time before the starter would engage. When I stopped auto tune the issue when away. Couple days latter when I started auto tune again the issue reappeared until I finished auto tune. All the Best Curt
I noticed the same thing and I think I figured out the reason. It seems that while in auto tune that the FP3 and the bike communicate somehow using the security system. You will notice that while in auto time that the security light will intermittently blink. Same is true during startup. If the security light on your dash is flashing when you hit the start switch it will not respond. Wait till you see the light is off and the bike will start without interruption. Once auto tune is complete this situation goes away. Hope this helps.
Just got off the phone with V&H. They were very helpful and they are going to make this right. Apparently the IOs portion of my FP3 has stopped working, so they are sending me a new one and a return box for the old one. The only pain is that I have to find someone with an Andriod device to flash my bike back to stock before I send them my old FP3. All my friends are Apple goons like me.
The good news is that they were able to see the first flash I did to the bike and they assured me that it's fine for now. So...I'm headed out tomorrow on a road trip!

That's weired. I had the same issue. But I thought it was me. Never thought the FuelPak would cause that. I switched the a tune suggested by the V&H support and never had an issue again...

...I just had the same thing happen. Finally got my pro pipe, Kutter was swamped this spring! Went to retune on the fp3 based on this new configuration, but it wouldnt pair to my iphone. "VIN not supported". Tried to delete / restore, unplug, reboot, disconnect bluetooth to infotainment, all that. Called vance+hines, they said it was probably the apple chip, and they will replace it. He said in the meantime, an android device would probably still work. Long story a little shorter, borrowed a phone just to do the canned map, it worked. Now I'll send in for the replacement.
Has anyone done this? Will the replacement last longer, is it a new generation chip? Ideally I will get the new one, spend some time autotuning and fine tuning, then disconnect it so not to burn it out again. Any thoughts?

I used my iPad mini (original not the retina) and had no issues. Technically it's older hardware and CPU, it has the same guts as the iPad 2. Not sure which cell phone would have the same chip.
I had the same issue. its a bug in the FP3 when used with some Iphones. If you have access to an Android, that will work and once you do that V&H will email you a UPS label to ship your FP3 back for repair.. I was able to connect via and Andriod and verify that the table I flashed was installed, which is was, and my '14 Ultra is running fantastic with the new ProPipe. My FP#? it went out on UPS this morning.
I'll be installing mine next week once I get back from vacation. I am putting on Vance and Hines Dresser Duals, Hi-Output Vance and Hines Mufflers, and Harley Screamin Eagle Stage 1 Air cleaner. I talked to rep at Vance and Hines and he recommended unless I felt like something didn't feel right or sound right not to even mess with auto tune. At least until after 3 full tanks of gas. Approx. 600 miles.
