First Harley - please sirs, tips
Everything said here is pretty much it. Ride it. Take it to dealer for the 1K. Read the owners manual, if you can and like to wrench, buy a service manual, so you can do the minor maint inbetweeners, and take to dealers for the majors.
I have 3 HD's currently. Have done a crap load of riding in all conditions, not one issue with any of them.
Your in San Diego, so you can pretty much ride 365, so you don't have to worry about storage.
Sad to say but there really isn't much to say, you got a bike that was designed to be ridden, just give her love and she will love ya back!
The Yamaha you had was a basically bulletproof bike so its not like that for sure, heavier and more spooky at first at low speeds so get use to that and give yourself room to turn at low speeds and don't be afraid to put your feet down........
The 1000 mile service is where you should have the dealer do probably (altho its pretty basic might want to err on the cautious side) and after that its oil changes for awhile. The belts don't have any issues except getting a little lose but even then its not a big deal,,,, not like its gonna break or anything.
Check out the manual for easy checks and ride the shi* out of it my friend,,,, its an experience that is equal to none to be hammering down the highway in the wind with the tunes jamming on a Harley!!!! bet the wife loves it to.... you will be hooked for life brother. ride safe, paul
You mean don't be afraid to keep your feet up, pull in the clutch, slam the bars to the side and ease it out while you're grinding the floorboards into the pavement for a nice tight turn!
I have a 14 King on it's way may come in this Thursday. Good luck on your new bike, I hope you love it like I have with mine. Don't forget some pics.
