Went to wash my bike, been a bit gritty as they rebuild our road, got it clean and went to ride to air dry the hidden stuff and no gears to get it moving in the driveway? Looked under the bike, drive belt snapped, no rocks no warning and I just got it in the garage two nights ago no problem.
It is a '03 and just at 12k on the odometer, what the ????, I thought these were to last at least 50k or for some the life of the bike, am I due for a new one already? This is the wider belt 1 1/2" 139; seems a bit dryer and harder at the break.
We have a 93 FXSTC with only 20,000 miles on it. Just returned from a 3,000 mile trip no problems. Sorry to hear this, might of picked up a rock awhile back and just didn't know it. You did say you were having road work in the area?
small rock may have gotten it months ago look over the pullys very close and u mind find a small ding it is possible that the marks buffed out depending on how long ago it happened , or it had a week spot from the factory.
Found it when I looked at the break, small rock dink, about 3/16" at the break point, and yeah I probably picked it up in front of the house but hey we needed the road worked.
I picked the bike up a year ago with 5500 on it, I just broke 12k, I was hoping for a little respite before big expenses.
