Default knocking at idle

I have a 2014 SGS with 3300 miles(bike is stock except for rinehart slipons) that I got in November.
It has developed a "slight knock that comes and goes when idling with no load and warmed up". The knock is there if the clutch is engadged or not.
I took it down to my local HD and the service man acknowledge the knocking sound and ask me to leave the bike there to have it looked at. When I picked the bike up he gave me the "they all do that" blah, blah, blah. He said that they adjusted the primary chain, but they were unable to fix the problem. blah, blah, blah. and that I should basically accept the noise.
I am new to my Harley ownership, but I know something is loose and not right.
Any ideas? Should I go back down there and make a bigger fuss about it? Have a independent look at it?

thank you for your time.

pull your crank sensor, its above the oil filter on the driver side. 2 little screws hold it in. it is magnetic, if its full of metal you have an issue, take pics and call your dealer.

I'd make a big fuss, make sure the problem is well documented. Don't take it to an Indy for repair while it's under warranty although you could get their advise. Try another Harley dealership.

Make sure it isn't the engine temp management system engaged and active. It cuts out the rear cylinder when its hot and at idle. Mine makes some funky noises in the primary area when that kicks on. Almost sounds like the chain is slapping, or the compensator is making noise.

I pretty much leave that system turned off unless I'm in stop & go traffic.

I bet it's just the ETMS kicking in. There is an algorithm that determines that at a certain external air temp and engine temp, the rear cylinder will be shut off to reduce rider and engine heat. If will only happen when the bike is at idle rpm AND you are not moving. The bike sounds like it's going to fall apart when idling like that.

Does is go away as soon as you rev the engine or start off? Then it's the ETMS. Normal and nothing to worry about.

I heard that today on my SGS while sitting at a red light with warm engine and it went away once I gave it throttle so I too figured it's ETMS

Mine is knocking a little more than I would like now as well. I just had the 1k service done last week and now have 1250 miles on it. It seems much worse on when its cold. Runs and sounds great at higher RPM's just rattles a bit at idle. Might stop by a couple dealers and have them take a listen.
