The orange/white wire is a switched hot wire from the Accessory circuit

I had the same problem on my 2016 FLHXS while doing my Harley heated grips. I had done my research before starting as I was totally confused after reading the useless instructions. I already knew of the problem so I went to the harley dealer with the part numbers for the connectors and female ends and had them make me a 3" double female jumper to mate the 2 male ends together. I didnt want to cut the original connector in case it was needed for something else down the road. Im glad I did the install myself as I found the power lead wire going into the inline fuse holder wasnt even crimped properly. They had only crimped the insulation and not the wire into the holder. So when I pulled on the wire it came right out of the feed in side of the inline fuse holder. That would of been a great problem down the road when the grips worked intermittently or not at all. So I soldered both sides of the inline fuse.
