Street Glide Special 2200 miles and a leaking left fork. Noticed oily residue on the primary (hitting the front of it and running along the sides), horn cover (same as primary), downtube that has the VIN was almost black from dirt and oil, same on the fender and down the fork. Called the dealer and they said it could be grease from the bearing. Took it in and sure enough, they need to replace the left fork seal.
Made an off-hand comment to my wife about putting on the chrome lower forks while the dealer had it apart... she said yes?! Needless to say, I didn't hesitate and got that ball rolling. Sucks the fork seal went bad already, but I get an upgrade out of it labor free and 20% off the parts.
Funny to stumble upon this, I did see this once on bike prior to doing the tear down for chrome lowers and premium fork kit. Wished I would have looked closer for I may have gotten out of the labor cost of them assembling the forks for me.
You might consider the premium kit, check it out it made a serious improvement in handling.
Looks like I'm not the only one. I just got the bike back today, had them put the chrome lowers on while they had it apart. Wish I would have thought about those premium ride cartridges... oh well. Atleast got the chrome lowers put on labor free and 20% off.
