The new 2014 Rushmore had its own set of issues and growing pain during its first year release and I think HD has handled the recalls and fixes fairly well and the issues, IMO pales in comparison to the issues facing the current owners of the new 2014 R1200RT, as they are being told to cease & desist riding indefinitely with no definitive fix date. There also had been talk of monetary compensation to current owners who are currently making monthly payments or perhaps an even trade to other in house models...
My goodness, how would you feel if your are told "Can't ride your RK, SG, Ultra, Limited, & CVO and we have no fix"...outch..
Harley should have been more up front about the cam chain tenshioners in the 88 engine (1999 to 2007). Bad design. Costs loads to repair/update. Traded a Deuce for a 2014 Streetglide.

Trolls would have a freakin' party is this ever happened to our Rushmores...
Wow did not hear about that! I bought BMWs for years because I believed the hype BMW people use to say that if you tour with a Harley your gonna spend lots of time standing on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck! I actually was about to pull a trigger on a new loaded BMW 1200RT when I saw the Harley TV commercial where they are riding in the desert and the boss calls and the rider presses ignore on the Infotainment system. It was that technology that brought me into the Harley Show room to even look at a bike. Then I started reading the forums and was convinced about all the hype that Harley was still a POS until I started talking to real world Harley Riders. 4,500 Miles later on my new Ultra Limited and I'm still smiling ear to ear. Best bike I ever owned hands down. I will never go back to BMW.

Most people with common sense, would know that recalls are mostly the supplier of the part that failed is at fault.
Of course you will have a Manufacturer like Ford for example, that will have such a shitty design, the parts just fail on a regular basis just because.
(Cam phasers explosions, plastic cooling system part cracks/leaks,stretchy timing chains, stuck spark plugs, spark plugs that shoot out, timing chains that slip because there's no woodruff keys only "friction washers", cracking exhaust manifolds, corroding IPM's from water intrusion, stretched wire harnesses etc etc.... And that's only for gas engines we won't go into Ford Diesel problems and **** poor design).
Being a Eurotrash bike, there really is no surprise they are experiencing this issue. They are afterall, rolling steaming piles of ****. (Just like Jap Scrap bikes).

I dunno, met a few BMW riders that gave up their Harleys in the past that would say the same thing about Harleys. Of Course RTs (Boxer Engine) always had their flaws too like how they feel like paint can mixers until the engine gets broken in 3-5k later or how I always burned half a QT of oil every 1k. But like the Idle noise I hear in the Harley Engine when in neutral with the clutch out or the rough idle that makes the bike feel like its about to stall that Harley says is all normal. It just adds character to the bike. I see the BMW boxer engine as an original just like the Harley V twin. Thats why even though I always rode BMWs I had respect for Harley because they were an original. That BMW boxer engine has been around for a long time and is based off an airplane engine design. They are actually pretty cool engines once they get broken in. But like my wife always use to say every time I bought a new BMW. "Wheres the Chrome" well now were both happy.
