i was on a road trip to cleveland on my 2014 SGS. i'd gone 3/4 of the waythere and i got off the highway to refuel. i was then on the access road tothe highway when i heard a loud noise, looked in the mirror and there's my right side saddle bag on the road.trying to keep up with me. scrathed the crap out of the side. does anyone have any good estimate as to what this might cost to get repaired. i'm thinking around a grand.
Mine was not, my buddy hit mine with his hwy peg and I had to call to get a part number. It was like 250 or less for the bottom. Call New Castle HD, they are good with painted parts
That same exact thing happened to a buddy of mine a month or so ago. It made me cognizant of mine, I now check them from time to time when I open the saddle bag.

That right there is why I put on a set of the Brukus Saddlebag Bolts. I had one come loose. Made me paranoid after that. I don't worry about them now.
Since you already have to buy one, why not consider doing extended bags? I sure would if I was in your shoes. I think they are about $1000 from Kutter HD.

Ditto here
Actually had a set of Brukus bolts on order but they took almost six weeks to arrive and had a bag fall off in the parking lot in the meantime!! Expensive mistake but I was able to get a local painter to fix it and I replaced the chrome trim.
Brukus fasteners finally arrived and the bags are safely installed.
Did you recently remove the bag and it just didn't get latched well? I don't see how these things come loose if they are latch completely. With that said I to ordered a set of the replacement security bolts system off eBay for about $15. I went with the Allen head bolt system so they wouldn't eat up any space in the saddle bags. But after ordering I began to wonder what's to keep the bolt from just backing out? At least the pins some what lock when completely turned.
