I didn't have the cash for a muffler system right off the bat, so I compromised.. Maybe I'll change it someday but for now I can't complain with the price..
$70 Extra pair of stock slip on (no baffles)
$150 de-cat stock headpipe
$80 big city thunder monster baffles (for headpipe)
-----------
$300. Total cost.
I could have modified my parts and saved even more but I always like the idea of going back to stock if I need to... Or hate the sound.. I know it is a bit of a Frankenstein setup but it fits my budget..
Last bike I had was '09 flhx which had no cat simply by design and I added "american custom" slip on.... I loved the sound....
what is the differences between a 2-1-2 head pipe and a true dual ? this is something I have been thinking about doing myself , it may be time for the cat to go

I have always been told the 2-1 pipes (both pipes merge into one muffler) give the best performance followed by 2-1-2 (pipes merge into 1 then split to 2 mufflers) and last choice for performance is true duels (exhaust from each cylinder stays separate). This is due to scavenging, the exhaust from one cylinder helps to pull the exhaust from the other cylinder (a siphoning effect).
I like my MO's I was just looking to get rid of the cats and maybe pick up a little noise but don't want to wake the dead
I like loud but even I feel the decatted w/street cannons is a little excessive. I will have to make a sound bite for people to hear. Put it this way, when you have hardcore Harley owners in the houses on both sides of your house and they give you **** when you start the bike up you know its a little loud, lol
