if you were watching a video previously and not listening to music, you can just start playing music on the phone first and it will play and function normally on the bike. annoying sometimes...
When I connect iphone via cable, it seems trouble free. Via bluetooth, occasionally it's wonky. As I recall, sometimes will play whatever was last being listened to, but menu doesn't show the other available audio on device.
A few problems I'm noticing are when I start the bike, sometimes the iPod (Nano, iPhone and Classic iPod, I've tried them all) won't be recognized. It will show up, but the playlist/songs won't play until I shut the bike down and then start again. Also, when I create a single "Favorite" with the lower left push button below the "Home" button, it will retain the memory of that favorite until I shut down and restart. Then, the memory of the favorite button is gone. This is all intermittent. I've installed the new version and everything else is good. I've even tried 3 different iPod/USB cables so know it's not that. Any ideas or is anybody else experiencing this?
Mine never did this until the latest up date. Now it happens a lot and I have to sometimes actually unplug the iPod and plug it back in before it works again.
The Boom likely defaults to radio due to long "read" time. The Ipod probably has a large memory and a large number of songs on it, causing it to take awhile to "read" the data. The system then times out and defaults back to favorite. If the favorite isn't set it defaults to radio, station 1.
My ford sync in an older vehicle did that. The solution? Use a thumb drive. Solid state vs. old school hard drive so it reads faster. But make sure the memory on the drive isn't too big. The larger the memory, the longer the read.

Even if I program the Favorite button to Radio, it still will not remember that setting after an ignition cycle. Once in a while it will but 90% of the time, it doesn't, so it isn't iPod related. I've also tried a thumb drive...same deal. After programming the Favorite button to Radio or Media, it works fine until I shut the bike down and restart. Then the programmed source gets forgotten.

I agree with this also.
With one exception. Most iPods are solid state, just like a thumb drive.
The only old school hard drives are in the older iPod Classics.
My iPod touch (32 GB) is solid state.
And what you say about taking longer to read the data makes sense.
I have found that if I turn on the ignition key first before even moving the bike off the side stand, it will come up to the iPod every time.
If I get on the bike and move it in any way before turning on the ignition, there is a 50/50 change that the radio will come on first before the iPod.
Do any of you guys use the Favorite button on the lower left faceplate and program it to Media (iPod) and does it remember the setting after ignition cycles?

I've tried setting my iPod to favorites but all it does is beep and then I can't find it in favorites.
I sorta have the same issue but its only when I actually unplug from the USB. When I plug it back in to go for a ride it takes a long time for all my favorites and full function to come back. I do have 1500 songs on it and probably 12 different playlists and it seems that when you unplug it the thing has to reload everything all over when you plug back in and fire up the bike. I just leave it plugged in now and everythings fine when I shut the bike off. When I start the bike up a day or two later by default it goes to the radio but when I select the iPod it starts playing right where it left off no problems. Now it gets unplugged only when I need to update or add more music to it.
