I sorta have the same issue but its only when I actually unplug from the USB. When I plug it back in to go for a ride it takes a long time for all my favorites and full function to come back. I do have 1500 songs on it and probably 12 different playlists and it seems that when you unplug it the thing has to reload everything all over when you plug back in and fire up the bike. I just leave it plugged in now and everythings fine when I shut the bike off. When I start the bike up a day or two later by default it goes to the radio but when I select the iPod it starts playing right where it left off no problems. Now it gets unplugged only when I need to update or add more music to it.
I'm referring to the one "Favorite" button on the lower left faceplate. If you press and hold that button until it beeps, then select Media, then iPod, it's supposed to retain that memory so next time you press that Favorite button, it goes right to the iPod. That way, when you are listening to the radio and you want to switch over to iPod, you don't have to go through multiple screens to get to it. It works fine until you shut down the bike but when you restart the bike, it forgets that memory. It's supposed to retain that memory but doesn't. HD had the dealer replace my infotainment unit with a new one two weeks ago but it still does it. Harmon Kardon has now looked at the problem and was able to duplicate it so now they're saying it should be fixed with the next update. It is not iPod related either since it does it with flash drives as well and the same even if programmed to radio.
Happens fairly regularly that when I start up, I can pick songs, playlists, etc. from the iPod, it goes all the way and then just can't seem to pull up the actual music. I haven't tried restarting the bike, what always works for me is disconnecting/reconnecting the iPod. Quicker than a restart.
BTW, if I start up and the iPod doesn't come on, if I reconnect it without making any different selections, it will switch from radio to iPod and resume playing exactly where it was when I turned off the bike the last time. Interesting glitch.
A few problems I'm noticing are when I start the bike, sometimes the iPod (Nano, iPhone and Classic iPod, I've tried them all) won't be recognized. It will show up, but the playlist/songs won't play until I shut the bike down and then start again. Also, when I create a single "Favorite" with the lower left push button below the "Home" button, it will retain the memory of that favorite until I shut down and restart. Then, the memory of the favorite button is gone. This is all intermittent. I've installed the new version and everything else is good. I've even tried 3 different iPod/USB cables so know it's not that. Any ideas or is anybody else experiencing this?
I have had to do this twice already and it works basically you have to plug the ipod into your laptop and clear all the songs off the ipod then reload them via the lap top and resync. It will work
Do you have your "Favorite" button, the one on the faceplate below the home button programmed for Media (iPod)?
I Had this problem with my bike not letting me skip to the next song. I went into setup and found that the seek button was not "highlighted" per say, I believe the left toggle button got programmed to chose presets instead of seek. I hope this makes sense. Thanks to you I fixed the problem.
