I do not think there is a issue with the twin cooled cooling system. The issue has largly come from technicians lacking experience or skills with this new system. Harley should have done a better job training the tech's on the Rushmore's new systems. Just my humble opinion.
Bike is back at dealer for 5th time. cap has been replaced, filler neck again for the second time, and one thermostat change. Coolant problems were solved after the filler neck issue, then 1800 miles later and after 5000 mile service, it happened again. Coincidence?? Anyway I'm on my way to pick it up after the latest filler neck problem and they say it's fixed. Bike is 13 months old and H-D still having problems. Maybe Attorney time next.
And now for the Zinger! They provided me a Trike rental at no charge while they have had the bike and conferred with the area Rep. You guessed it! 6 miles to home and after shut down in garage, It over flowed coolant. Can't wait to show them the pictures. The rental bike had 8500 miles on it.

Sounds like that dealer service dept doesn't know how to get all the air out of the cooling system. Maybe try a different dealer.
CURRENTLY my FLHTK is NOT experiencing leaking issues. Back in June, a friend asked where you fill it with water? When I popped the cover off to show him, I was surprised to find an empty overflow tank. The bike had 18K on it and I had never noticed any leaks. I had checked the coolant level @ 15K and it was full. To the dealer it went where they changed the Filler Neck (I had not had it changed yet) and refilled the system. They could not find any leaks. Over the next few days I rode about 500 miles and each day the coolant level dropped slightly. After several days the level stabilized at about 5/8" low. I guess it was purging any air that remained in the system. I returned to the dealer about a week later and they inspected and refilled the system again. Since then I have ridden 10k and the system has remained full. I have never seen any leaks but I still cannot explain the one time coolant loss.

I doubt that air was in the system for over 15,000 miles / 9 months and I never experienced any other problems. I just cannot explain where the coolant went. As I said before, I never noticed any leak nor could the tech find any leak.

Dealer told me you will lose a very small amount of coolant to evaporation over time. The coolant reservoir isn't air tight.
