So, I'm sick of hitting potholes and denting these 19" front rims that came on my '14 SG. Anyone replace them with smaller rims and taller tires to soak up the bumps better? Like maybe rims from an Ultra or something? Suggestions please. I'm not buying yet another 19' rim just to dent it again a year or two down the road. Any advice appreciated. TIA.

This is one of the reasons why Street Glide is not on my short list for next bike.
Others have done this mod, I've not looked for a replacement yet but would like the same style rim that I have now but smaller. If you don't get answers here try a Google search maybe.
There's a post about somebody installing a 180 tire kit on a street glide. Knock on wood my 14 sg hasnt had any issues im 25k. Being from michigan and traveling across country on it still no issues. Guess i got lucky or where you live needs to step it up om the road repairs.
The Electra Glide uses a 17" with a 130/80B/17. I had a 2009 Ultra Classic and I now have a 2014 Limited that both came with that front tire. I live on Long Island and the roads are not the greatest, but I never bent a rim.
I would prefer the 16" wheels & tires of earlier models but I've gone over 150,000 miles on the 17" tires without any problems.
It sounds like you're definitely a candidate for the Tire & Wheel Coverage.
the eg tire size 130/80/17 has an overall diameter of 25.20 the street glide tire size 130/60/19 overall diameter is 25.39. i would use a rim from a limited better looking wheel,
I put an ultra tire and rim on the front of my 14 SG. The ride was definetly improved. There's certainly more tire sidewall to help absorb bumps. I found a new take off on ebay so the price was right.
Not that it helps your cause in finding a different sized wheel. I do have a set of take off wheels and tires from a Street Glide with only 50 miles on them. I can price you the set of you'd like.
