With the ignition on & engine not running if you open the throttle for a few seconds the pump & fans will turn on. You can feel the pump vibrating when it's running. When riding down the road you should be able to feel warm air coming off the radiators.

If you have been riding long enough to get the engine hot stop and turn the engine off. Then turn the ignition on twist throttle about halfway until the fans come on. If you can feel hot/warm air coming from the fans/radiator the pump is working.

Use the process to manually turn on the fans/pump on. Shouldn't matter if the engine is hot or cold. (the same process is used to run the water pump to bleed air out of the cooling lines which you would do cold). Crouch, squat, kneel or bend down and put your hand on the pump, if it's running you should be able to tell.

Fans only come on when it reaches a certain temp they don't run all the time. Do the process as stated above to activate the system (you can do it cold/hot) and down at the bottom front of the engine, directly behind the front wheel behind a chrome plastic pull off cover, is the pump. Put your hand directly on it to see if it's running. The pump runs always when the bike is running.
