having an issue with my 2014 StreetGlide and the saddlebag pins not staying locked in.
I check them before every ride. and one or two are always loose. a couple weeks ago the left bag pins worked themselves loose and the handbag dropped off. today 20 minutes after fueling up and checking the pins, the right bag pins worked themselves loose and the hardbag dropped off while running down the interstate.
I have taken the bags off and put them back multiple times, trying to determine why the pins won't stay 'clicked in'. I swear I check the pins regularly. but they still work themselves loose. what do I have to do to make these things secure?
That gotta be hard on the paint... I think the '14's had a recall on those pins. Change them out to the bolt style, like the newer bikes come with. RickRak makes some, although pricey, that are nice and low profile and have the ratchet type locking like the newer HD saddle bag bolts.
yea, I recall a recall years back as some fellas get home after a ride less 1 saddlebag. Had it happen to a buddy. He actually drove back to look for his and thankfully found it.
There was a recall on them. Like many others, even though the recall was done on mine, I changed to a cheap set of bolt type ones from amazon and it's been perfect since.

I have a 2015 EGU and just run a reusable hook and loop cable tie between the 2 rings on pins to keep them from spinning loose.
