Default Pegs?

Has anyone put highway pegs on and decided to keep the mid controls? I like the control of mids but this is not comfortable.

They did suggest leaving the shaft in place to seal hole. How were you able to remove shaft and attached lever (engine side)? Did you remove the primary case? You can save 500. I used a coach bolt and wrapped it with weatherseal until it was a tight fit in the hole. I removed the shaft through the primary case by disconnecting the link to the gearbox which allows the shifter to rotate forward and give access to the capscrew that holds the rear lever on the shift shaft. Needed 3/8 breaker bar to loosen the 1/4 socket. Capscrew our, shaft pulls out. Stuff any thing in the hole, it won’t leak oil. I’m at work now so if you have more questions I can answer them when I get hone see my original post and photo
