Has anyone blacked out the chrome fender trim? I'm thinking of doing so but not sure how to go about this (powdercoat, etc.)....

I wanted to do same thing. The trim is plastic and told me can't be powder coated. It would have to be painted. Many posts back someone did it and it does look good.

I found this works great on the fake chrome plastic parts on my bikes.

High Gloss Black. Multiple light coats to prevent runs.

I may have to try this too. Follow-up question. I'm relatively new to the Harley scene and haven't figured out how to order replacement parts. If I completely mess this up (and I'm not very handy and have never been successful at painting over chrome....never), is there a way I can order new trim? Or, do I have to go to the stealership? I have searched and searched for the trim, but can't figure out how/where to get these types of parts. Thanks, and sorry for what might be a stupid question....

I use ronnies for reference.
Looks like part number 15 is the rear fender trim.
55 bucks.

The plastic trim is not "chrome", just shiney silver colored plastic. The paint adhears well to it.

You will need part numbers. May have to go to your dealership and have the parts guys look them up for you. Once you have a part number, Surdyke is one of the better places to buy on-line parts. About 20% of retail.

I will probably try to paint mine. If i make a mess looks like maybe a couple hundred loss total.
Lord know i spent more in a casino with nothing to show for it.....lol
If you look up Jamie's bike at laidlaw hd on YouTube he did up a heritage with painted trim. Looks dang good to me.
