This question might be very basic, but i haven't changed out a handle bar before-
Will a touring style handlebar fit as long as the clamp area is 1.25"? Id like some 2" thick bars.
There's just alot more options for the touring platform.
I've used this thread to search alot, but never posted my bike in it yet. Getting ready to put it away for winter, gotta give it a clean up still, so figured I'd throw it in here.
Still trying to figure out the seat. I didnt put the strap back on, never liked the look of it. Now with the touring bags and a slim's tank bib coming, chiclets are almost gone. I picked up another stock seat dirt cheap, im going to cut off the chiclet flap from both the seat and pillion. If it looks goofy, I'll probably hit up mean city to see what they could do on the seat. all the aftermarkets ive tried have sucked. and ive only heard the same about the HD seats.
I took my seat to a local upholsterer and they replaced the strip with the chiclets on it for about $100 (might have bene less). Looks WAY better
For the guys with Slim tank bibs, did you tuck the pointed flaps down into the tank, or did you leave them flat?
tucked in,
...snip...
Sorry for the late response. On my older TwinCam, I switched out my original smooth/plain Slim bib for a Crossbones Bib.
I tucked it down since the bottom edges are laced...

Sounds off. Are you sure of the dimensions quoted>

Right. The bars are 1" diameter at the clamp. 3 1/2" width on the risers, center to center. Stock is 10" bar with 2" risers. You will need to extend cables, brake line, and clutch cable if you go more than about 2" taller. I just lifted mine with 2" rox risers is how I know.
Ok need some input , My Softail Slim ( which I really loved) got totalled and I'M looking for a new Bike , and was thinking about Heritage classic 114 ,
Is there much much of difference in handling , I'm short at only 5'6 ,,
Yes I have checked the spec , the rake and tires are the same , a little heavier and 1 inch higher , , but more options come with it plus the 114 ,
