Default Horn

Has anyone found a horn that is .. well .. more realistic. Id like to find one like I have on the Wing. Those are as loud as a car horn. ... almost.

I've seen a lot of posts of folks using the Wolo horns. And I may go to one of these myself. They come in chrome or black. Mountpoint is of course always the challenge though some have mounted theirs close to where the stock horn is, using a diy fabricated mounting bracket. It's not hard to do but does require being handy with tools and your hands. I mounted a Stebel, which is another option, on my VTX using a homemade bracket and it served me for the nine years I rode the bike. But on it I was able to tuck it up out of sight in front of the rear wheel.

I would settle for the horn my vtx 1800 had. This little meep meep things got to go.
I looked out there in Harley world ... did show that loud horn as compatible... if yours is mounted on a 2018 ... I'll spring.

I use Freeway Blasters on my Sport Glide. I use both the High Tone and Low Tone (two separate horns). Makes my bike sound louder than my pickup. Works great for getting attention at interstate speeds. Only down side is they draw enough amps to justify an interface relay to drive them.

I put the HD loud horn on my 18 Heritage. I had to bend the little mounting plate out a bit to make it fit. Lots louder than the roadrunner sounding horn it came with.

Do you have some type of wiring video / pics ?

If mother Harleys "Loud" works .. might be less painful to just use that.

If you're not experiences with automotive electrical work, and the Harley Loud Horn works for you, then that would be the best route. I do all my electrical work myself. In a nutshell, I use the existing horn wires to power the coil of a sealed 12V automotive relay. Then I ran a fused wire from my battery terminal to the relay common, and used the Normally Open contact of the relay to power the two horns. This work will involve removing the seat, side panels, and tank. It will also require good electrical tools (strippers and crimpers).

Yeah its been a while ... but I think I could wire up a bosch 12v/30a car relay. ... Im a network engineer by trade and took a 1 year electronic class a loooonnnnng time ago.
Just easy if there are pics.

But yeah, Ill probably just go for the Harley horn if its plug and play. Im 55. If I have extra time, I want to be riding not wrenching ! ... getting a little lazy too !!!

I have a dual tone Bad Boy Wolo on my Heritage. It is loud, gets attention, and is the only HD I have that I really like the horn or use it.
