I don't know if I "had" to remove the fangs for the fairing, but I do know that the fangs would definitely hit the lowers for sure!! Here's a pic of the "hack" job I did on the hard lower for the brake cylinder.

When you look at the pics be kind. I had to choose between a Dremel tool or a Harbor Freight chainsaw. I'll let you figure out which one I ended up using. LOL!!!

Hope this helps.

Here is my attempt for lower deflectors. These are Memphis Shades. The clamps don't fit around the fork shroud so I bolted the mounts on using the lower windshield screw. The bottom of the deflector hits my engine guard and angles it back a bit. I have not ridden with them yet so I am not sure if the buffeting is better or worse. Just wanted to share a different idea for the same problem we are all having. I'll post a review once I get a chance to take it for a ride.

Without the windshield on.

I think they blend in pretty well.

If I could rotate the mount forward I don't think they would hit the engine guard.

The angle is pretty close to the fork leg, but the top is angled back some.

This is where it hit the engine guard.

Sped that's nothing a little sand paper couldn't smooth out - I thought you actually had to cut the brake pedal. Yeah I would want to keep my fork deflectors on with the lowers - I saw BlueRavens bike & he has the leather pro lowers (discontinued & cant find anything similar) along with the fork deflectors I believe????

I thought about the reckless fairing but just went with the LRS recurve dark tint - it looks good on an all black bike and the rock hoodz is kinda hidden from sight when looking from the front, I have a couple big trips planned this year & just trying to get the bike trip ready & comfy. Just got my Progressive 422RAPs so this week end ill be a shock mounting maniac.

Maybe BlueRaven can chime in on if his fork deflectors hit his lowers or not? & if any one sees a set of leather pro softail lowers or similar let me know!

I just Finished installing these. I cut a channel into each one so I can mount them closer to the forks but still be able to remove the windshield normally. I'll probably get them powder coated this winter.
