Any word if the bike is coming in today or tomorrow? Well if not one more day isn't bad to have to wait.

Bowhunter,
I will just test ride it when it comes in, examine it, and sign papers. Then once deal is done parts will be ordered for stage 1 and accessories. Then wait for delivery, install, dyno tune, and then I will bring her to the house. I want to bring it all finished, so I don't have to explain why the sound suddenly changed, and the chrome disappeared, and all the black showed up.

Well, look -- anything can happen. You could have a bike that throws a connecting rod, or blows a head gasket, or a million things COULD happen. I can't tell you "don't worry, nothing will ever happen to your bike." What I CAN say is, I have put almost 20,000 miles on mine, taken it cross country, ridden some of the best roads in America at speeds that were at the limit of my skill level, bounced off the rev limiter probably a hundred times or more, and never had the slightest hint of an issue. Would I cruise the freeway in 3rd gear at 6,000 RPM for an hour? Of course not, but then nobody but an absolute idiot would; I mean, 80 mph in 6th is about 2900 rpm or so, there's no reason to drive extended periods of time at high revs. Would I take it to the racetrack for a track day and drive the hell out of it? Sure. And I wouldn't have the slightest concern about anything happening. Sumping exists, but it is extremely rare, and almost unheard of in a Softail; in all the time I've been reading this board, I've only ever heard of one Softail sumping.

So I wouldn't worry about it. It's a brand new bike, you've got a two-year warranty, ride it like you want to ride it. If it sumps, Harley will fix it or replace the engine. But the odds are very good that it's not going to sump, it'll just instead be the best bike you ever bought.

On the other hand, if you go voiding the warranty right away and putting on a bunch of aftermarket engine mods and run it at the dragstrip continuously, well -- that's a totally different scenario, and I can't begin to guess at what issues may or may not crop up.

That stupid headlight has not only won me over it is now an object of desire!
Exactly. The headlight and the heat shield and the front tire are the defining design characteristics of the Fat Bob. They will inspire jealousy in all lesser mortals.

I would choose a Fat Bob....and I thought I had a deal til the dealer reneged on the OTD price we agreed upon. I am looking around for other options. I know that invoice on the Fat Bob in 2018 (a 107) is $13,939. I know they have to make money, but I need a good deal. Business must be good around here because two of my local dealers would rather hang on to the 2018's than let me have a deal where they are still making money and getting the old off the floor.

The point when I started this thread is that I would like to have a softail - already have two large touring baggers (but still want a road glide in addition) and a two smaller around town bikes. The softail lineup hits that sweet middle spot and these two speak to me the most. Fat Bob just wins, partly because so many hate it!
