Default New to Breakout

Hi and greetings from Cambridge in England!

I have owned assorted Softail and Dyna models in the past but wanted to ask Breakout riders about the differences in riding normal mid control bikes like a Dyna Superglide or even slightly forward located control bikes like a Deluxe or Fatboy compared to the Breakout. I am going to test ride a Breakout on Monday and have fallen in love with the model but just wondered what to expect. It looks like a long low bike with a long stretch to the bars and pegs. Is it comfortable to ride? Can you ride distances on it. Also, are there huge differences between the older bikes and the 2018+ models? I know the main differences are the chassis and the engine but do they feel so different? Any feedback gratefully received.

I love my 2017 Breakout and it's a keeper, mine was one of the last twin cams, if you like tearing it up on the twisties and back lanes they are **** pigs in the handling stakes. I have ridden for many years and it took longer than any other bike to harmonise both my own capabilities and the limitations of the bike to feel right at home, about 7 months in total.
Last year June I travelled to the Hamburg Harley-Davidson Festival from Bournemouth, Dorset. I broke the journey up over three days on the way out, two on the way back. I covered 570 miles in a day on the return journey with 13 hours from door to door without suffering any aches or pains, I was however psychologically fatigued after so long.
IF you can stretch to it I would recommend a CVO Pro Street it has a 110 engine, shorter rake, twin discs up front, USD forks, cruise control and a few other extras out of the box and is better in the handling stakes than a 103. I have never ridden an M8 engine bike so can't really comment. Having returned from Hamburg I had a Wishlist a mile long of the latest 'must haves' that I didn't really need so despite buying a CVO the evolvement began as you probably appreciate from your Harley experience. That's it from me!

I love my '18 breakout 114. Have changed a few things. Honestly i could use a couple inch further fwd on the foot controls. I am only 6ft. Does it carve corners.....nope. Can you ride it like a scalded dog....yep. Is it a touring bike...nope. Is it a bar hopper/sportster on steroids....yep.

When i had mine i did a +1000 mile trip with no problem. I've done 11 hour riding days, only stopping for fuel, no problem. I found the '18 Breakout really comfortable. The forward controls are a lot closer than forwards on a Dyna or the earlier Softails, much better suited to those of us not +6ft. Pegs still scrape early, but it's a massive improvement over the older Breakouts. I always liked the way the older models looked, but they were terrible to ride. Only thing i like better from the old bikes is the bigger tank. If you're hard on the throttle, you'll be through a tank of fuel in just over 100 miles on the new Breakout. I don't think i ever saw more than 130 miles from tank of gas.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Really appreciated! Some mixed comments for sure - can't really afford an '18/'19 so thinking about an older bike. Will report back after the test ride! Thanks again.
