Is this your first HD? I think I recall several threads you started about shifting. As said, HD transmissions are pretty solid and definitely want sharp, deliberate shifts, and will also clunk, esp low gears.
If you are used to other brands it can take getting used to.

This is my third Harley and I have never experienced shifting issues like this before. In fact I had a shift today that was so rough that it's stung my toes when the shift lever kicked back. This is more than a clunk on the up shift from 1st to 2nd. It's like getting a double click when you upshift kicking the shift lever back into your toe.

Then its time to go to your dealer and press them hard. Figure out when it happens most often, I.e. up shifting out of 1st @3200 RPMs, etc. and tell the tech to ride it until it happens.
P51, it sounds like bent fork or damaged dogs, or both or improper spacing at assembly. He's right, it's time for the dealer again. It will probably get worse and eventually pop out of second.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like to me too. Rare for a Harley though. Has the bike been dropped and hit the shift lever?
Sucks, but at least the HD trans is relatively easy to pull compared to a jap bike.

No the bike is pristine just turned over 4,000 miles today. Made an appointment for 2 weeks from today to take the bike in and we'll see what they say.
I find that if I have my Shotgun Shock to low I have trouble upshifting first to second.
Raise it a little and it's fine, only thing I can think of is the belt's to tight when lowered to much.

Glad to hear it! You may need to be firm with the dealer.
Another suggestion would be to adjust the shift lever down so you get a firmer upstroke when you shift from 1st to 2nd.
TO give a very simple answer, I had the same thing then the trans got funnier.. The clutch was out of adjustment and needed a fluid swap. Best its ever been..
