I'm in the process (clamps arrive tomorrow / rainy day) of re-locating my front indicator lamps to the forks. I like wrenching and fiddling with my new scoot. I had to get inside the "grommet like" cover on the neck of the frame. The multiple connector bodies were attached to the inside of the cover.

HOW IMPORTANT DO YOU GUYS THINK IT IS TO FRUSTRATE MYSELF WITH TRYING TO REATTACH IT vs JUST SHOVE IT ALL BACK IN THE HOLE, PUT RUBBER BACK ON AND DONE DEAL!?

When I had mine out while changing bars, I pondered the same question. I took the time to put it all back the correct way. The last thing I want is a pinched wire. Nothing is more frustrating than chasing electrical problems later on down the road.

 

It’s not hard at all if you remove the fuel tank bolts (front and rear) and lift the rear of the tank and slide it back a couple of inches. Use a phone book to hold the back end up. A plastic automotive trim tool works well to press the grommet back in place.

Thanx guys. I'm not sure if you are understanding me. I got the grommet back on fine, I'm talking about how the connectors are attached to the inside leaf of the grommet.
As far as pinching wires, it's just an open cavity, right? No moving parts in there?
I'm totally **** about stuff like this, but it's a royal p.i.t.a. to try and get those attached into the fold/flap grommet backside. Thanx again.

Reattach the connectors to the carrier, then shove it in. Maybe pinch isn't the best word, but there is vibration experienced in that area, and having the connectors attached just seams like a good idea, the factory engineers thought so.

The job looks worse than it really is. When I replaced my handle bars I removed the tank just to get it the heck out of the way. Not that big a deal to remove and reinstall.

As for the big rubber grommet thing that holds all the connectors. When you reinstall start at the top and work your way around to the bottom. Much easier getting it back in the frame than starting at the bottom.
