You can list them on eBay but you'll find a ton of "new" take-off parts from Harleys. I sold my original mufflers from the Fatboy a few years ago and basically got pennies to the dollar. There is a market but don't expect much especially for exhaust parts. That said, appropriate aftermarket parts can get a decent return. I just sold the Power Commander V that I took off the Fatboy for about 40% of current retail.

Since many people don't keep bikes very long if you ever try to trade you'll get beat up on trade and NOTHING for and adds or mods. NOTHING. In a private sale it might enhance your bike but only if the buyer likes this specific changes. The more stock the easier to sell. So bottom line I'd store them if you have the room.

Default Thanks

I figured as much. I plan on keeping this ride for the rest of my riding days - It's more about riding than pimping for me. I'll stow the stock mufflers in the attic for now. But I need help with another problem.

I bought bag guards today. Installation is simple but I can't get the damned bolts out of the passenger foot peg supports. I'm a pipe fitter - flange bolts etc. yet I can't get these damn bolts (allen heads) to budge. Using a cordless impact to the point where I'm rounding the corners. I know there's no secrets to breaking these bolts free but has anyone else come across this? 2018 FLHCS 114 . I really don't want to drill them out! Thanks again.

They may have been installed with RED thread locker and if so you'll need heat to get them loose without destroying the bolt. Check with Loctite on their site and it'll tell you how hot to get it. Probably a good heat gun should work and shouldn't need a butane torch although a torch can direct the heat more accurately. With Allen bolts/screws I would recommend the best most square tip you can get and make sure it's the absolute correct size. In Torx many a 27 has been stripped by a 25. HD uses mostly SAE but they do mix in some metric in places.

If you have already effectively rounded out the inside you can try cutting a slot for a flat tip screwdriver with a dermal or grinder disc. But hit it with heat and then with the impact before it cools. If I'm reassembling something I never use red unless I'm absolutely positively certain I'll NEVER want it apart. Blue for me.

Ability to touch it up was the main reason I went with the black engine guard; it also matches the frame. IMHO: chrome highway pegs would not look out of place on a black engine guard.

I put the chrome guard on and will add the chrome angled pegs which I saved. I'm also thinking about adding the heel shifter but the installed shifter is black and don't want to mix on that shaft. So I'll look for a take-off chrome shifter.

I tried everything...finally had to drill them out. Grade 8 soft steel...no thread locker that I could see...they just welded themselves to the cast frame. What a bitch! Bag guards are on...looking good. It was worth the ordeal.

I did chrome/black thing for my 18 FLHCS but instead I did chrome handlebars and black engine guard. Grips and pegs (updated post pic) are chrome/black combo.

Default Nice

Nice look with that denim finish. If you're gonna do bag guards but have trouble getting the passenger foot peg bolts out give me a shout. I've been "educated".

What bars did you use? Did you replace them yourself and if so how much of a pain was the internal wiring. I ran my wires internal on an 11 FLHTK and it was a real pain. Pre canbus, big wiring bundles.
