i am confused. i've been putting chrome on my bike assuming it would go faster. now i'm reading posts saying black makes tehm go faster. is black the new chrome? am i wasting my money?
maybe it was the placebo effect but it sure feels faster...
very easy question to answer, have both, black and chrome. my bike is 2 sided one side chrome the other side blacked out . best of both worlds. depends on what mood iam in, theni park to that side . jackyl
I bought my Super glide a year ago and immediately joined this forum. As I was dreaming of my purchase, I invisioned something with lots of metal and shine. I soon learned my green-back comfort zone and the desire for buying a bike with all the bling weren't in synch. I bought the bone-stock SG and started looking here for shine ideas. Come to find out, the trend here was black. Kinda thought my game plan had a kink in it.
Then, I got inspired when I ran across Naz's SG (and a few others) and the mods started. My bike now is starting to look like what I used to shop for and day-dream about. I have probably spent more than I should, but I love how its coming. I'd only consider the money as wasted if I wasdressing it upto please others.
There are a lot of beautiful blacked-out bikes here, but the bike I like the most istheridemy Super Glide will one day be.
I have been doing some in depth research on this subject.
Black is faster. Now you have to look at it this way Chrome is shiny and reflects all the energy it comes in contact withthus it is in conflict with thermo dynamics.
Now on the other hand Black absorbs all the energy around it thus turning that energy into Raw Speed, I'm not even going to get into its Stealth Properties.
