Black parts cost less than chrome parts.....so more money left over for performance upgrades,
Dollar for dollar, black bike should go faster.

I think black adds more low end and mid range torque. I still have to do a dyno run to confirm the numbers. I'll keep you all posted when i have the results.

Scientifically, air molecules do not cling to the chrome below 40 mph, but as speeds increase above 40, the parasitic drag factor of the chrome actually begins to slow the bike down due to the reflection and refraction of ambient light creating a negative time/space continuum (see relativity), whereas the black color absorbs the energy of the sun, which the bike uses as stored up energy to assist inspeed increases above40 mph. These effects can be nulled out by a healthy balance of both chrome and black being used, which will allow passersby to completely appreciate the quantum effect of said substances on said material. Its simple physics.
That is exactly why I have equal chrome and black on my Bob. However, I'd like to add to what Lonewatie said. The guys with all the chrome on their bikes think it makes them faster, but its just an allusion.Refraction occurs whenlight travels from a medium(the chrome parts)with a given refractive index, to a medium(lets say the roadway)with another. At the boundary between the media, the wave's phase velocityis altered, it changes direction, and its wavelength increases(appears to be going faster)but its frequency(Miles perhour)remains constant. Simple physics. Chrome adds visual horsepower, but not actual horsepower. Then when you figure in the fact a black motor will dissipate heat better than a chrome one (less heat = power) it leads to one conclusion. Chrome parts on the Non-powertrain parts of the bike and then have a black powertrain. This delicate balance will lead to having the fastest possible bike. The only thing faster would probably be my spew of bullshit.

Not all bikers is dumb....I gots smarts real good

If you have lotsa chrome the equation goes like this: "ride for one hour- polish for three." I love hosin' off my 'Bob and hittin' the road. Black is definately faster- 'cuz yer actually movin'!

Silver is the color of the future. Chrome will fade, and they are going to run out of black paint paint (thanks to you guys).
Silver is nuetral and neither absorbs nor reflects the suns rays. Also offers a good balance between TQ/HP.

Ed, Just because you never heard of the SR71 Chromebird, doesn't mean it doesn't exist........ Why do you think they retired the Blackbirds??
