Default Foot Control Bracket!!

Has anyone else had a problem getting the two torx bolts out? I’m afraid I have stripped them a tiny bit. None the less stripped is stripped and I need some help getting them out! These suckers are in there tight. I’m kind of frustrated with the type of bolt used for this application. If your going lock tight something like that do it to a bolt that can’t be stripped so easily!! Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm finding that H-D has used Loctite on every fastener on my 2019 Heritage. Totally unnecessary IMO, but I suppose it's cheaper than nylok nuts or or lock washers. In my experience, button head Torx screws and Loctite is a recipe for disaster.

yeah, my lowrider had them loctited in like I've never seen before. Its a miracle the stuff wasn't bleeding out everywhere around. I ended up having to run the new bolt in and out about four times to clean the threads decently and then reapply a sane amount.

If you suspect a bolt has Loctite on it you can either heat it or wick acetone on it to soften up the plastic for easier bolt removal.

Problem with that is that heat or acetone will damage the surrounding painted surfaces.

You need a set of thread chasers (not taps) to clean threads that have dried loctite.

Mine on the now traded Softail were ridiculously tight. Trying to remove them from factory install to add board extenders.

I took a 3/8" rachet with an extension and put a pipe on the end of the rachet for leverage .. got them out that way then cleaned them up.

I reinstalled with locktite, but I just used the locktite at the top of the bolt only.
