Default Help removing bolt - BOLT HAS BEEN REMOVED

I am trying to remove the passenger footboard mounting bracket. I was able to remove one side, but the other side won'tcome loose. The bolt requires an allen wrench and shoulders inside are starting to round. Any ideas on how I can get this bolt out would be greatly appreciated.

I would try cutting the bend off an allen wrench and inserting the long end into an impact driver. If you don't have an impact driver, rap the long end with a hammer and try rotating the wrench after a few hits. Keep the allen wrench straight in the cap screw.

I got a set of allen wrench sockets from Sears. Helps get a lot more torque when needed onb these hard to get to HD bolts.

As suggested, an impact driver with a socket-type allen wrench. If that fails, weld a nut to it an' pull it off, then replace the allen head bolt (which should be done now anyways, since it's startin' ta round out).

You might try using heat along withan impact driver, somethread- lockingproducts needaround 400 degrees to get them to release.

I appreciate everyones suggestions. I don't have an impact wrench or torch to heat it. I have a variety of allen wrenches that are very good quality. The bolt doesn't have loctite on it. And I have put penetrating oil on it. It just won't budge. Doesn't help that it is starting to round off. Any ideas what a dealership, Dallas area, would charge to remove a passenger footboard mounting bracket bolt?

If it's an allen head screw, Cap Head. Not a Button Head. And its notcountersunk into the footpeg bracket, I would use the largest Vice Grip I could get on it, as tight as I could make it, ie two hand squeeze. Then use some assistance (pipe) to turn it (Make sure the Vice Grip face the correct way)
Also, and I know this seems stupid, but are you turning it the correct way? "Righty Tighty Lefty Loosy"
Then go buy a new fastener to replace it.

If its counter-sunk into the foot-peg or a button head, and you round it out? Your looking at a drill and tap jobor welding a nut on it.
Since you dont have that ability at your home, figure $35 to $45 an hour to get-er done. If your lucky.

Dont you just hate it when that happens?

You could try tightening it and then try to loosen it. I've had bolts that seemed really stuck come loose that way.
