Question for those that might know .. I like smooth and they tell me the new softails are a smoother to ride bike than my dyna low rider .. So which one the sports glide or the heritage classic , are they far apart or the same , since they have the same new frame is there a big difference in them

Edit: misread your post and thought you were comparing the low rider to the heritage.

One looks traditional and is a very capable scooter, the other is a bit new school and a very capable scooter.

Peace.

Test ride one first because if you really like smooth, you may not like the viby buzz that comes through the bars at 3000 rpm.

Ride them both

My $0.02 on touring is buffeting can really wear you out on longer days. When I compared the same two bikes last year, I chose the Heritage because it had more windscreen and fang options to reduce buffeting for rider height and riding position than I could find for the sport glide. For shorter riding days, the windshield is easily removed.I have been comfortable on 500+ mile days.

Love my Dyna Fatbob, love my Heritage 114.

bottom line....

Your Dyna will be smoother at 70mph +. I still happily tour on the Heritage. Power, handling and engine heat are remarkably better on the Heritage. Fantastic bike.

If you want smoother try a Road King. I’d really recommend the Road King Special 114...

Definitely test ride them all...

Can't compare your exact bikes, but will compare my 2019 Low Rider with a Memphis Shades batwing fairing and HD bags to my 2003 Super Glide with a batwing and bags...

Like them both - a lot.

The Dyna most definitely benefits from the addition of front and rear True-Track stabilizer links. Harley should have built it this way. Stops the handling wobble Dynas get after the rubber motor mounts start to get soft, but still lets the motor bounce around while keeping the chassis stable. The power is down, torque is significantly down (88" vs 107" in the Softail), but it's all very usable and pleasant. The engine leaps around at idle, but has a really nice feel to it once underway. Low-frequency vibes come through the bars and the bars really jump around at idle.

The Softail feels much stronger. The engine is smoother, but solid mounted. More high-frequency buzz comes through the bars - not obnoxious - but more. The chassis is tighter than the Dyna, even the Dyna with the True-Track.

Bottom line - they're both great bikes and great on the highway. Go ride the new Softies and see if you like it. If you already love your Dyna, but haven't installed the True-Track, get that done ($500, you install). If you really want a new bike, get a new bike. Either way, you'll be happy.

Subscribing to this thread cause I'm curious to hear about the ST's vibe. If I'm going to spend $20k on a bike I'm not interested in shaking my hands out every 30 minutes to wake them up on freeway rides. It's kinda BS that a 2019 $20k bike makes you numb off the showroom floor. Shake I'm cool with. But numb hands suck!

If the RK, or any of the touring models, didn't feel like riding an elephant I'd be sold on it.

I'm also trying to get a feel for if newer Dyna's tour better than the new ST's.

Mine doesn't shake my hands. I've done many long long days on it and hands are absolutely fine. I don't get any "vibey buzz". There is some vibration, but mainly from the 114" thumping away.
