Default Heritage riser

Being short I generally need to bring the bars back to get a comfortable riding position. The 19 Heritage is no different for me. Past bikes, 11 and 15 FLHTK, I changed bars to a Wild 1 chubby mini-ape and the 13 Fatboy I put on HD pullback riser. The basic bar grip is pretty good but need it closer to me. I haven't made the proper measurement of sitting with eyes closed and see where your hands/grip ends up to find that position but I'm figuring about 1-2" should be close. I looked at the HD parts offerings for compatible riser and there were several ones. Interestingly the "exact fitment" ones were for both 1" and 1.25" bars. Mine measures 1" at the grip.

The HD ones I put on the Fatboy were rather light weight in quality as compared to the stock ones. Stock was heavy solid billet and replacement lightweight hollow stamped feeling. Does anyone have any experience with the ones shown in the "parts catalog" online? Does the stock Heritage logo top clamp bolt to the pullback riser? Any suggestions of quality aftermarket riser to accomplish the goal? I would like to NOT have to change brake and/or clutch cables.

EDIT ADD; I did rotate the bars back which helped a bit but need more.

Got home and did there "sit test" and figure about 2" back would be a comfortable position. Checking the HD parts online, the part number 56066-82A gives a 4.4" rise and 1.5" pullback. The stock riser appear to be about 2" rise and 1/2" back from the top of the triple tree. I'm figuring the 4.4" and 1.5" should get me that 2" gain easily and there is enough slack in brake and clutch cables to not need any change there. Riser replacement is pretty straightforward but the HD instructions are pretty dismal.

Another question I have with the riser is top clamp. Questions that were answered on the site said the stock top clamp doesn't fit but the kit doesn't include top claims. What give with that crap? I'll talk to a couple competent people at the dealer to see what their thoughts are.

It looks like the HC uses the standard width risers. I don`t know if this will help but I changed out my stock risers to bring my bars up and closer like you want to. i used a pair of Switchback risers. Up a couple inches and back a couple inches from stock. Ebay has a few sets. Here is a pic.

Thanks I'll take a look at them. Did you try and use the stock top cap?

No the stock cap will only fit the stock risers. Here is a set on ebay where you can how the curve brings them up and the bars are set back even more.

Update on riser situation. I ordered a HD pullback riser that the parts rep looked up that is under the switchback list. Parts manual says no extensions needed and the rep looked up that the stock riser on switchback and heritage are the same part number. This riser will bring 1.5" up and 1.5" back, which based on the "sit test" will be great. Parts came in, I got back into town and got started.

Wiring is exceptionally tight in the Heritage and virtually no slack. The is enough brake and clutch cable slack but not wiring. I could raise the bars 1/2-1" up off the stock riser. Extensions needed. Of course nothing listed on HD online, service department says bring in and they'll determine what's needed at rather high shop rates off course. I went on the Drag Specialties Fat Book online and several extension offerings. One for left and right switch clusters at various lengths. Plug-n-play so no soldering required. In past bikes, touring, I've replaced clutch cables, pulled wire through bars ( pre-CANBUS wiring), and can handle most repairs/modifications myself. Based on wire "snugness" I would suspect that 4" extensions would be appropriate and one offering, LA Choppers, had that length. The TBW extension was not clearly addressed so a call may be needed.

A little help here would be nice. I am going to presume that the wire extensions are installed at the top in the bars, not down below where the wiring bundles disappears into the engine area. I also assume to disassemble the switch, disconnect wires, install extensions and pull extra wiring out towards triple tree. Am I correct?? Any other trick that would be helpful in this project. I put it back together, left stock riser on, until I can resolve the wiring issue. Thanks.

EDIT ADD; I did get and install the heel shifter. That required the kit from HD which had a new heel shifter and mounting point. I also ordered the chrome toe shifter so they both are the same color. Straight forward install just had to loosen the bracket the shifter shaft went through to get the clearance for the longer shaft. Now to sell the black shift lever on flee-bay.

Go to Guerrilla Cables, they have wire extensions for all three and pricing is not bad at all. They have a few different lengths and are quick with shipping, I got 6" for left, right, and throttle cable. They do nice work. Hope this helps getting it all wired up.

I installed the ROX Pivoting Handlebar Riser's on my '18 Heritage without changing any wires or cables. There was enough wire pushed up into the HB to accomodate the instal. It was tight, but made it.

I'll check the triple tree hub again but there didn't appear to be any slack in there before the wiring headed towards the back. Am I correct that any wire extensions attach on the upper end of the loom? I looked at the guerrilla wires also but haven't decided which way to go if needed.

I just installed a 4.5” riser on my 18 Heritage. You need H-D part #69200034, 10” switch wire extensions. I had to use one (1) extension for the right side switch wire. I did not need turn signal extensions, but if you do you need part #60201975. Unplug the stock switch wire, connect the extension, and then connect the other end of the extension to the loom. Hope this helps.
