Hi Guys,
I have a 2019 Softail Slim with V&H Eliminator Slip Ons and a Stage1 done by the dealer. Now I have a lot of backfire when i decalerate and it feels like the engine has less performance then before the tune? Any ideas?
I assume the dealer used the HD tuner. If so you have 2 choices. Ditch the V&H mufflers for the HD Street Cannons. Ditch the HD tuner for a Power Vision tuner. The HD tuner is not set up for and doesn't have a map for the mufflers you are using. To work right the HD tuner needs specific HD parts and has very little adjustment.

If you didnt already, put quiet baffles in the slip ons. M8s dont do well with too open pipes. That should fix your perceived performance loss and reduced the decel popping. Theres not much choice in tunes with the SE tuner. There is only one stage 1 tune. You could try a few autotunes to smooth out the VEs. The deceleration pop was there with your stock pipes, you just didnt hear it. With loud v&h pipes, your now hearing it...
I've had a bit of the same even with the SE Street Cannons.
An observation...I've run a few smart tune sessions, and the SE tuner does not have enough tuning range to properly fuel even the street cannons, at least on my bike. The amount of changes in the VE tables is limited to a 4% change over the base SE stage 1 map. My VE tables (rear in particular) is loaded with red cells.
The SE tuner is quite disappointing, but at this point, I am not familiar enough with either HD or this engine to feel comfortable ruining the warranty.

Dont blame you about the warranty part. I waited until my warranty was almost up and used a Power Vision tuner. I have a fair amount of Power Vision experience which helps. The bike runs so much better with a well sorted PV map. I tried the SE tuner in the past and it was a disappointment. Its just too limited even for Stage 1 imo.
Thank you all for the reply. I had the slip ons on the bike for 2 weeks with stock air filter and no tune because we had to wait for some parts and to make sure I am happy with the overall sound of the pipes and there was no pop/backfire at all and the performance was great. Just thought to let you guys know.

This is interesting because I had Street Cannons on my bike and RCX slip-ons on my nephews Low rider, both bikes had stock air cleaner and no tuner added. Both bikes performed well, no loss of power and no popping.
Wanted to add, the S&S exhaust I have now along with a high flow A/C is louder and probably flows more but preforms great, it's tuned with a Power Vision.
My 2017 Heritage had stage 1 with street cannons SE backing plate and filter w/stock Breather cover and HD tuner....Bike ran great.
Now my 2019 Slim with stage 1 W/S&S 2:1 SE Backing plate & Filter HD tuner Bike runs extremely well....
I would take it back to dealer....
