I am thinking of ordering a DK 587 AC. It appears the M8's discharge too much crap for the breather bolts... is this correct? Anyone using the breather bolts successfully or is a catch can necessary.
If a catch can is necessary... is it easy to plug in their catch can EBS to a 587 AC? Or are modifications needed?
ok I found where DK offers and EBS catch can to work with their EBS.
But is it recommended to use the EBS catch can... or are others using the breather bolts in the M8's with success?
Thanks
I was using the DK Outlaw 606 air cleaner with the hose and filter style external breather kit. Never had any crud come put of the hose or filter. I've used the hose and filter style on all of my past bikes so I just kept it the same and had no issues.
Thanks I'm leaning towards the hose and filter EBS. Dk AC seem pretty convenient system to install. Not sure about the cover styles though. Are there any other manufacturers of external breathing AC? Looking for an easy install and not having to do any mods really.
I've posted this on another tread but thought I'd throw it in here. I went with the little Chrome can, and it was a mistake. For some reason my bike would not idle. Every time I'd come to a stop it would die. Took the can and ran the breather hose under the bike to the atmosphere (I don't get anything out of it anyway except hot air). The issue went away. All I can figure is that the can's holes were not big enough to vent properly. I haven't taken the time to look at them yet. If I bother putting anything on it, I'll go with a filter.

On my Royal Enfield the breather system goes into the filtered side of the air box, just like an M8. On that engine, it is strongly recommended any bypass system has a filter. That's because the air goes both ways, as the pressure inside the case, varies in different parts of the cycle. Don't know if that's also true of the M8. If it is, running without any filter on the breather will introduce unfiltered air into the motor. I have no idea how big, or small, an issue that might be?
I apologize if I posted my comments in the wrong forum. My bike is a 2008 Twin Cam, so may not have anything to do with the op's issues. For me, the catch can just did not work, on MY Twin Cam
