I added both to mine before it left the dealership. I love the look and feel it almost looks unfinished without. The decals were promptly removed.
Thats the great thing about the Heritage. You can remove the bags, windshield and passenger pillion, and go unfinished, you can go dressed up or you can go somewhere in between. I like them all.
Thanks....these comments and pics have been great and demonstrate why this is such a hard decision. The black ones will almost certainly be lost visually on my black heritage so I’m sure if I ultimately decide to do it, I’ll be happy.
guess I’ll just ride a while and decide later if the $500 investment is worth it.....yes, I know....one drop and I’ll wish I had done it!!

Yup, just one slip-up away with that dorky kick stand.
Be extra careful if you have to park on gravel. I need to do that frequently. The small stand drills down in between the large stones, not always sure when it's going to finally take hold and stop tipping. I've got black guards front and rear. It helps the vintage look I prefer. .

I try to remember to keep a spare of one of these in my bags for gravel, soft ground etc.
Yeah, I carry one as well. Now I'm taking yoga lessons so I can reach back into my bag and get it placed on the ground before I get off the bike. Working on the Groaning Senior pose.....
I was turning left onto the main road and there was a lot of road work with gravel. I slipped and dropped her but at least wasn't moving so no road rash on her. Engine guard saved it except for some small scratches on bottom of my hard bags. I have since added the saddlebag guards but those are not a perfect fit and do not go down far enough since I am running Road King bags. But at least still protects the side somewhat.
