Default Help! Back and forth re: engine/saddlebag guards on Heritage.....

I have both on my SGS and they look fine, but I’ve always liked the clean “motorcycle” lines of the Heritage and hate to mess that up with guards. Yes, I know the protective value of them, but sometimes aesthetics TRUMPS protection.

Just for fun, how about some pics and some thoughts on adding them to my Heritage.

The black ones look ok to me. I have the mustache front guard now.

I'm going through the same dilemma for the same reasons.

I too was conflicted about the same. I put on the engine guard and saddlebag guard in black on my new Heritage. It look ok and it’s
good insurance against that parking lot “oh ****” and thousands of $$$ In repair cost.

If so inspired I can remove the guards, saddle bags, and windshield in 30-40 minutes and go naked. Not a problem.

To much front brake will do that.

I’ve gone with just the mustache guard upfront. No guard for the bags so I can still get a fairly clean look with them off.

No guards for me. I have them on my RK and I feel they fit the look, but nothing else I own has them. The Heritage is light enough that I don’t worry about “oh ****” moments with it and honestly I need it as skinny as I can get it for commuting.

I had a slight horror story years ago when an older car’s bumper hooked my engine guard and proceeded to drag me and the bike down the road. I honked to alert him, but he thought I was chasing him and spend up. I managed to keep the bike upright and eventually the rusty bumper ripped off and we separated without further incident. He took off dragging his bumper down the road. I thought about chasing him down, but no damage to me or the bike...just my heart rate....so I headed to work.

I like the looks with both front and rear black guards on my 2018 FLHCS. The mustache engine guard works like highway pegs for relief from the floorboards on long rides. The rears almost don't show but protect the bags. I've had at least one "oh sh_t" moment when I was glad I had them.

I have front and back in black, standard shape - MoCo OEM products. Personally, I think it looks great on these bikes

I added both to mine before it left the dealership. I love the look and feel it almost looks unfinished without. The decals were promptly removed.
