I couldn't wait
They sound good too. Not as loud as I'd like, but then again I like mine REAL loud. They sound good at idle, a low rumble, and sound great when you honk down on the gas. They aren't real loud at cruising speed though and that's where I like mine loud so people can hear me. I can live with them for a couple of years.
"Trust me, I understand your confusion and frustration as many dealers are NOT instructing the customers accurately on the expectations of Harley-Davidson and the EPA. All of which was a big situation when the 2017 models released (post EPA lawsuit settlement).
As referenced in the "Screamin' Eagle" catalog and/or the P&A (Parts & Accessories) catalog... Harley-Davidson states under any of their muffler options in the description "Requires ECM calibration with Screamin' Eagle Pro Street Tuner (sold separately)"

On the link above refer to the "FITMENT" tab below the photos.
Again I understand your frustration as most dealers are telling the customer "you're fine" but as per Harley you need a ECM calibration. The true fact is you probably ARE okay, the bike will probably run just fine HOWEVER in order to maintain power-train warranty Harley does want to see a tune on any bike with performance parts on it.
To answer your questions, yes you can do the download yourself and still be warranty compliant. All Harley wants to see is that there is a tune on the ECM (if the bike has been modified).
This is all something I HEAVILY go over with all my customers at this location, even before they purchase performance parts. I generally try to educate them when they first purchase the bike during their "TOUR" that we do to all the departments. We sell a tuner to EVERY muffler install we do here, in fact we will not even install a muffler without a tuner if the bike is under power-train (2-year) warranty. We will not do anything here that could potentially void your warranty.
Basically, to keep it simple. Harley has three rules. 1. Use the SE Street Tuner ONLY (with any modification) 2. DO NOT touch the factory headpipe (slip ons are okay) 3. ONLY use Screamin' Eagle engine components (so no aftermarket internals, big bores, cams etc)
I know that was an essay but I hope I've helped in some way."
Who the hell you gonna believe?
For me, I'm just gonna keep everything HD til the warranty expires. Even the handlebars. Even the spark plugs. Does Harley sell gas?
