There's a post on here somewhere about a member shaving down his Sport Glide seat. I can't find it now. I'm not going to mess with lowering the suspension, because this bike handles so well. Can anyone help?

This is just a dealer shell game. They likely quoted you a high interest rate, then told you they could get a better rate if you bought the warranty. With that said, you can get a refund from this at any time. It will likely go to the lien holder unless you pay off the bike first, but it will still go towards the principle of the bike making the loan shorter. If you truly intend to void the warranty then get your money back.

Glad your wife is OK. I bought the same "evil pumpkin" 3 months ago. I just needed a change also from fat tires and spokes. Finally a Harley that handles very well. Enjoy

Cobra 909 Black slip-on (nice sound), 2" Fat risers, External breather, slightly modified stock air cleaner. Fixed the slack in the material on the front of the stock seat, it sat crooked on the tank. Slipstreamer 10" dark smoke windshield. With the crap weather and days off, 653 miles, will be changing the factory fluids before 1000 miles. I am a synthetic Lucas fan. The motor is begging to be opened up. Tuner next, then intake. I was never a fan of 2-1 exhaust, but really liking this. To clear up some misconceptions, the cat lives in the stock muffler and you can re-use the gasket from the muffler to the head pipe. (if your careful), Sport Glide models. My feet aren't blowing off the pegs at highway speeds like they did on my 15' Heritage, so still debating on floorboards or not. Seat is OK, but want to sit lower in the saddle, not changing the suspension. Not too many exact fit options, so may have to fabricate. This is where it is now.

I'm of the similar "old school" mindset, as my last ride was a lowered Wide Glide with tall apes. Looked beautiful, but turned like crap. After picking up the Sport Glide I feel like I'm a young kid on a sport bike, so I'm contradicted on whether to make it "old school" looking or whether to "embrace the change" and keep things modern and sporty. Keep us posted on all of your mods and progress, as you've got some fans here. Cheers!

Does anyone know the purpose of the bracket underneath the seat, that goes from one side to the other? I'm thinking the only thing this does is keep the bottom of the seat from being too close to the shock. I don't believe the entire shock is going to shift up and hit the seat. There's a good inch or so between that bracket and where the seat sits. The only thing I see attached to it is a ground wire. A). One could fabricate a flat bracket, or remove it. B) Instead of tearing up the cheaply made stock seat, one could dremel/cut the stand-offs where the bumpers sit on the bottom of the seat, theoretically getting it to sit around an inch (give or take) lower. The seat base has some flex, so may be doable. I have contacted Mean City Cycle and they told me they could only lower the stock seat 1/2". For $85.00, not worth it, in my opinion. There's not much 'foam' to shave down in the rider position. I ride solo and the only seats I've seen that look like they might do the job, are made by Saddleman. No longer have the capital for may/might work. Would appreciate your ideas and input.

Rorin67- That feeling you mentioned above, I felt the same and never rode a sport bike.
24V-You hit that nail on the head. 9 Harley's since 1978 and only one mandated visit to the stealer service department. My brand new 04' Ultra Classic cooked a stator. I've actually replaced pistons and rings on my 74' (74ci) Shovel on the side of a tavern.
cobalt07- Appreciate your concern, the 'ol lady, will survive. The legal fight will be ongoing.
Update on mods; went out to the shed last night, popped off 5 of the nine rubber cushions on the bottom of the seat, proceeded with the dremel and shaved down the plastic stand-offs, where the rubber lived. Plastic dust all over my glasses and in my beer can. Surprisingly did not cut the vinyl. It definitely sits lower, maybe 1/4"-1/2" and cost nothing. My eyeballs see just above the windshield now. Legs feel a bit firmer on the ground. It's been raining here for almost a week and a half, with one good day (had to work). Rain again tomorrow. I have 2 days off and hoping I can get a couple of runs in before the temp goes back down.
Thanks people, for going on this ride with me. Stay Safe, Iceman

Ok back to life. At some point going with a different seat, so WTF. Decided to shave down some foam, I got a little happy and now sit on the seat pan. Definite difference in sitting position, added to my lumbar support and sitting as low as possible and who knows, when the weather allows me to be comfortable and take longer runs, I might might get my jollies. Purchased a Road Glide Special stock air cleaner assembly for $25 and modified, to fit the bike. I know am taking in a whole lot more air than the stock air cleaner. My exhaust has that nice dark gray color and there is little to no decel pop, tuner probably not needed at this point. When I go for the high flow filter, tuner will be needed. Right now, the combo is working fine. Peeps in the upper midwest would kill for 40 degree weather, sorry I am complaining, but I'm officially old. Have a slight problem with my throttle, it feels like it sticks once in awhile. New to TBW, so recommendations would be appreciated. All I've done is adjust the angles on the controls. Right now a nuisance.
