Hi I have a (new to me) 2018 Slim. Did you get a windshield installed with the stock bars? I see pics of windshields on our bike but on apes which changes the overall appearance. Not looking to switch out my bars, I just put risers on them and that works for me. Haven't ruled out a fairing either.
You shouldn't have any problems installing a windshield with any type of bars. The windshield mounting hardware attaches to the bolts on the upper fork tree. I use the detachable HD windshield with my stock Slim bars and extended risers. You could go with the Memphis Shades system where you could switch between any of their fairings and a windshield if wind protection is what you are looking to gain.

Thanks, I did try the HD windshield but the shortest one they sell is 18" which was over my head too tall. I looked at Memphis Fats so maybe I'll post and see if anyone has gone that route or what other options folks are using.
Yes, as mentioned, it’s no problem. My Slim came to me with the stock Hollywood bars and an H-D style quick release windshield. There is enough space between the bars and the windshield to stash a blanket roll or use windshield bags if you wanted to. The windshield is nice for getting high speed wind off the chest area. But it does create some turbulence and helmet buffeting behind it. I think the windshield would benefit from being paired with a set of fork fangs, like what Road King riders use. I don’t think H-D makes fork fangs to fit the 2018+ FLSL, but there may be after market available, or could be modified.
I leave my windshield on most of the time, but personally I think the H-D style windshield looks out of place on a Slim. I’d like to change mine to a set of old-style one-piece T-Bars (what we used to call Ness bars) and a smaller bikini sport style fairing.
I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to go back far in this thread, but there are many posts with pics of how people have done up their Slims.

The pic is of my bike with stock bars, stock risers, fangs and a windshield.
With that setup, no buffeting. I was getting some coming from under the shield. After I added the fangs, it went away.
I recently put back on a set of 4" risers, no issues with the windshield.
Nice job getting it configured and nice bike. Where did you find the fangs? There is a bit on the thread It seems people are half and half on windshield vs fairing so it's really a matter of personal preference on how you want your bike to look. Then you deal with it. I'll find the right windshield!

Thanks! I've had the bike up and down the east coast. I also have Viking bags and soft lowers that I put on for longer trips.
I got the fangs from JES Customs Accents https://jescustomaccents.com
I honestly don't love the way they look but they truly work so well I deal with it. I dislike the buffeting more... :-)
That's from early December 2021 trip to Fla... Pre orange tank and fangs.
Wow! You packed all that on a sissy bar? Amazing! While we're chatting, I was looking at Viking bags too, nice stream lined look. Did you have to relocste your signal lights? The Darkin bags are what I was eyeing. No relocation necessary so they say on 2018 and up softails. Living in Canada is expensive for shipping and returns so try to be 💯. Memphis Shades, Saddlemen, Revvit, they're all down there. I'd like to get those touring miles in that you're doing! My switchback wasn't the bike for me, but feeling good about making the sliim my baby!
Looks good! I dig floating rotors, and that one looks great. I’m curious why you swapped it out? And what the new rotor is?
I find the stock front brake to work pretty well considering it’s a single disc on a big chunky wheel/tire.
