Completely agree, slip ons will not require a retune on the M8. The SE tune really won't make much of a difference with just slip ons and even an air filter element.
Understood. The dealer keeps suggesting tuner with slip ons and push for "Stage 1" and pushing the fear of engine damage without it from decal pops...
I've done slip-ons only with no tuner and the bike (2019 Low Rider) ran great.
The 114 air air cleaner you already have flows more than you need for just slip-ons, save your $$$.
I changed to a full exhaust and tuner but left the air cleaner alone on my current 114, I'm very happy.

I wish I didn't even waste my money on a SE tuner for my Two Brothers full exhaust install.... I saw no change what so ever. For slip-ons your M8 will run just fine. Dealers and Parts department are there to make money. I had one parts department say that the SE Tuner was superior to a Power Vision and they've never had any luck getting a bike to run correctly with a Power Vision tuner....for obvious reasons, they sold SE Tuners and did not stock or sell Power Vision tuners, so clearly that's what they were trying to sell and also bending the truth to sell them. (and for that example it was for a bike out of warranty already...so it had nothing to do with keeping it in warranty, they just were trying to say the SE Tuner was a superior product, ha).

BOOM!
the faster you learn your dealer doesnt give a **** about you, the happier you will be.
Rule of thumb on this forum is you can change either the air intake or the exhaust without needing the tuner, but need the tuner for both.
DK Customs (Kevin?) maintained that the M8 is pretty tolerant of letting you change both AC and pipes - and that you will see modest, but measurable, improvements - like 4-5 HP at the peak.
My K&N air cleaner came with a dyno curve in the package purporting 4 HP over stock for their air cleaner alone. The bike did feel 'snappier' once installed, but I find that hard to separate from the sound the thing makes. Definitely has a much stronger intake honk than the stock air cleaner, and I've never switched back to the stocker to see if I could determine any difference with my butt dyno.
Finally, Fuel Moto has some dyno curves showing just a tuning on an all stock motor can pick up 4 hp.

And thats the thing, I'm actually not looking for Performance/HP upboost, I'm looking to be heard.. One service guy told me that you can't just put on pipes and expect loud.. it needs more airflow to be loud as well so you will need a high airflow filter element such as the SE/K&N... and then he gets into the tuning stuff... My apologies if I wasn't very clear with my questions and/or thoughts of this matter..
