My bike is a 2019 Softail Low Rider with the ABS option that I bought new last summer. I have never been satisfied with the brakes--particularly the rear brake. The front brake squeals (even though I have had the dealer service it twice), and the rear brake is mushy and requires harder brake pressue to coordinate rear brake performance with the front bake that brakes more effectively. I am close to my 5k service and would like to replace the brake pads with Lyndall Gold Plus pads (8181-G front and 7283-G rear).
TWO QUESTION:
1. Has anyone used this combination of Lyndall brake pads on a post-2018 M8 Softail and what has been your experience?
2. Will the higher quality Lyndall brake pads affect the ABS brake system? (Getting an answer from the HD parts or service departments has been impossible.)
I have a 2018 Low Rider without ABS, the rear brake mine as well not be installed. Exact same symptoms you are describing, mushy feel and felt like I had to practically stand on the rear pedal to get any bite from the rear brake.
Changed my discs and pads a month or so ago and the pads are Lyndall Gold Plus. Very happy with the front now, definitely an improvement over the stock setup. The rear is improved, but the change was not earth shattering.
