Just an FYI, Saddlemen makes Lucky Daves seats and Saddlemen also makes San Diego customs seats....if they say otherwise, they are not speaking the truth. Lucky Daves does not actually truly make anything in reality, they outsource everything as far as I know. Their handlebars are also sourced, made by La Choppers for instance.
As far as going back and fourth between Lucky Daves or Saddlemen...same seat, same gel and foam, same seat pan.. Different stitching and a slightly different angle to the back of the seat. If it was me, buy a saddlemen tuck and roll or diamond stitch from Direct Cycle Parts for about ~$360 shipped. I've owned 3 saddlemen step up seats, great seats once you pass about 1000 miles.
i need to buy one and I am from Europe so I am looking for best deal....best I got is 400 usd for saddlemen SDC which seems to be cheaper then regular saddlemen step up....so my eyes are on that one right now
Took my Saddleman off after 500 miles, before a long trip, too firm. Could only ast 45 minutes on it before I started shifting around. It was a fairly small solo seat, though with a gel insert. Try a mate's before you buy.
sorry for resurrecting a dead thread but Saddlemen states about 1500 miles for a break in period since they have the gel! That said, I made it about 400 on my solo seat before I swapped it. Hopefully whoever buys it is happy after 1100 more miles.

I would agree with this. For me, the Saddleman was pretty uncomfortable after about 30-45 min
Debating between luck daves or saddlemen seat.
never sat on either. Opnions ?? Suggestions??
I have a Saddlemen LS Step-Up on my FXR, I had a Lucky Daves on my Dyna, and I have a Saddlemen SDC Pro on my Softail.
By far, the Saddlemen SDC Pro is the most comfortable out of all three. I would put the Lucky Daves slightly ahead of the standard Saddlemen LS Step-Up. As mentioned earlier, I believe Saddlemen makes the Lucky Daves seat, so the construction quality is going to be very close between the two.
I don't regret at all the extra money I spent on the SDC Pro this time around.
