I went from a M8 Harley deluxe to a street glide special. Yes the SGS Is heavier And at a stop or parking lot situations it is harder to handle but when it gets up to road speed I think it handles better than the deluxe. It has a better lean angle and is more responsive carving in the canyons and At highway speed’s it is definitely better. The deluxe is an excellent motorcycle and I love the looks of It. They are just built for different riding experiences.
I've only had one ride on a touring frame (2014 Ultra from a friend at church). I thought it handled alright in the parking lot and out on the road. As much as I miss having a 6-gallon tank (my previous bike was a Super Tenere), the wide tank on the touring bike had my legs spread too much. I was happy when we switched bikes back.
If I could get used to the wide tank, a Road Glide Ultra would probably serve me well. I'm still enjoying the Sport Glide too much to consider anything else right now.

I had a Road Glide (2015) that I'd made in to as close to an Ultra as I could. It was a great bike on the highway, but I absolutely hated it at slow speeds. Commuting in stop and go traffic was terrible. It's one of the biggest reasons why I now have the Sport Glide.
Not saying it was a bad bike overall, just a bad fit for me. The Sport Glide, on the other hand, is damn near perfect for me.
