Default Steering Head Bearings Adjustment
I have a 2020 Heritage Classic with 6000 miles. Just had the 5000 mile service done and told them about a very hard rattle in the front end when going over bumps. I was told the steering head bearings were out of spec. It measured a 5 and they adjusted it to a 10, it fixed the problem. My question is it normal for it to be that far out of spec after only 5000 miles?

Some bikes will keep their adjustment, many will loosen up when breaking in. Steering bearing check and adjustment is therefore normal maintenance.
