I would just run it with the slip ons til the warranty expires. By then, you may decide you want to add cams and then definitely would want a tuner. Would check out Fuel Moto as they provide a map for your bike, even if its stock with slip ons. And when ever you change something, will provide a new map. Prices are competitive.

Slip on only, you shouldn’t need a tuner but it’s always a good idea to get one. HDs are lean from the factory. If you’re not worrying about warranty, I’d get either FP3 of DynoJet

DK Customs ran a M8 Freewheeler on the dyno with no tune with their hi-flow air cleaner and stock exhaust, among other combinations of tune and no tune, the results might amaze you.

https://www.dkcustomproducts.com/mil...-dk-m8-rpt.htm

Unlike the Twin Cams, this M8 was NOT running overly lean from factory. When we swapped out the stock faux "stage I" air cleaner with one of our true Stage I Air Cleaner Systems, it did amazingly well with NO change to the tune.
Mine runs excellent with Cobra NHs, for now it has the baffles, but I removed the packing. Will look into running it no baffles eventually. I have had mine in for warranty work, no problems.

Yes, plenty of information on running which ever tuner you would like, pretty much all are user friendly.

Dealer is fulla crap.
You dont even need a tune for slip ons. DKCustoms has evidence of this.

You don't have to do the four hours on the Dyno. That's BS. You probably don't even have to do the tune, at least for slip-ons. However, some HD dealers insist on it. One of the three dealers I go to told me they would not sell exhaust, even slip-ons, without a tune. I didn't buy from them.

I did end up getting the Screamin Eagle tuner, just because I wanted to keep it all HD for the warranty. I have a Power Vision tuner sitting in my garage from my old '17 Fatboy. When my warranty runs out, I'll probably change the SE tuner for the PV. I like the gauges on the PV, plus it's just a vastly superior tuner.

Wait until the warranty is up, then add what you want. Lots of aftermarket upgrades much better than what HD offers.
You are unfortunate to have to deal with that particular dealer and their service dept.

My suggestion is find that reputable INDY in your area. I'm in Tampa and know quite a few people in FL that can help steer you to the right one if necessary.
