Can anybody tell me if they have taken thier stock muffler's off and then reinstalled the mufflers using the original muffler gaskets? Harley indicates to replace the muffler gaskets, but if the gaskets look good I can't see why they can't be reused. So if you have done this let me know how it worked out.

I have a set of Rinehart slip-ons and some Street Cannons. I have swapped them back and forth several times, (note that I have a set of gaskets for both sets of pipes). No problems that I know of.
I see no reason if they’re undamaged, just check there is no exhaust leaks afterwards. I wiped mine clean and applied a smear of anti seize to aid installation, sealing & removal next time. See how you go.
Thought the mufflers just slip'd and clamped on to the head pipes? Is this a softail/year specific thing? Only gaskets I have ever seen are for the head pipes and cross-over pipe.

Not always obvious, but see part #24 in the following extract from the parts catalog:
Be aware that a few companies have made their mufflers so the ends fit up snug to the exhaust header and don't require a gasket. So if there isn't room for it don't sweat it, just put some anti seize on the pipe and slide it on and tighten the clamp.
