Once the unit is physically installed, Norcal, you do need to take the bike to the dealer or other shop so they can plug into the ECM and "enable" cruise, it's basically an On/Off software switch in an options table, and there are no other parameters that need to be set. Until it is enabled the ECM won't know it is even there. The shop might charge you for their time to do it.

It can be deactivated by using the front brake, the rear brake, pulling in the clutch, rolling the throttle back, turning it off. It is very easy to use and maintains set speed surprisingly well.

Just to chip in here, I updated my FP3 firmware last week and was looking through the options and under 'system switches', I noticed it said cruise control and wondered if this would turn it on if you fitted the cruise switch gear, so just did a search and it appears it will according to V&H, I have not tried it so cannot confirm this as certain!

I can confirm that V&H can update the map with the CC activated, never took a look at the newer software since I install the CC's with my Motoscan 6050 but after a autotune the CC was gone, did programmed a few times back with the
Motoscan but it kept disappearing after autotune session.

I contacted V&H and explained the problem, they asked me to upload my final map after autotune and they added the CC in the map and uploded it back to me, now it keeps on working even with autotune .

Hi Jim
Quick question, did they internally wire the cable, ie, through the bars, I've got a 2020 breakdown and would like cruise but I don't want wires showing.
Thanks.

Jack I think you mean a Breakout, the stock wiring is true the handlebar so you need to remove the stock lefthand controller, while pulling the stock wire out of the bars you attach a "pull-wire" on it so
you have a guide for the new cc controller wires. I have done this many times now on al kind of Softails and it is no more the a 20 to 30min job including coding the cc in the ecu.

Yes. The wires run internally through the bars; very clean installation and extra protection for wiring.

Just a FYI, The connector Harley uses for hand controls and indicators on it's newer bikes is the JAE MX1900 type

on the rear of this plug the sockets are numbered and will match the terminal numbers in HD's wiring diagrams.

In the UK, rather than paying Harley 18.00 odd quid for one

You can buy them from RS Components for Ł6.10 for a pack of 5, plus postage. Male and female pins and sockets are also available from RS, along with most of the other connectors you'll come across on your bike.

So I’m finally getting to this install. I’m looking at the service manual it looks like I have to purge the fuel line and remove the tank. Just wanted to make sure there is no creative work around to doing this before I start.
