Help and advice needed. 2018 FLDE Softail Deluxe. Just purchased the DK floorboard spacers. Went to put them on and can't remove the bolts. Tried an extended T45 on the bolts for more leverage. Seems the OEM bolts are much more than the factory spec of 40-45 foot pounds. Anyone have a similar experience trying to get them off ? I don't want to strip the head of the torx bold trying to get these things off.
Every bolt on my bike besides the handlebar ones were knocked loose with a Milwaukee m18 impact wrench. I try it in the lowest setting first and work my way up according to how tight it is. Almost every bolt is over tightened and has way too much locktite. I stripped out two bolts before doing this and have never had the issue since.
I just loosened the floor board bolts on my 2019 Heritage to install the heel shift kit. I used heat and an impact driver to break them loose. As someone else said be very careful not to strip the torex heads.
I just did this on my Sport Glide and my wife's Freewheeler. They was on way to hard but I got them all off with out incident. But it took every thing I had to turn them. I did it very slowly and backed them in a couple of times just to keep it slow. I think using heat would be a good idea.

I had the EXACT same experience with the EXACT same product. Who knows it might have been the same bolt. It was the final straw that convinced me to finally buy a good impact wrench. Haven't bought it yet, probably the Milwaukee number.
